EACHINE RD200 5.8GHz 48 CH FPV WEARABLE DVR/FPV SCREEN 2″

Article copied and pasted from Alibaba on 8/7/2022

At one point in this items history it was selling for something like 35 USD. I recall purchasing it for personal enjoyment. NO….. this is not an eachine or Alibaba sponsored advertisement, just a review of my experience with it.

I got it of course 3 months later, and had completely forgotten about it. One day I receive this package with strange markings from China. I remember it sitting on my desk for a few days before I was able to actually sit down and see what it was. It was a black version of the item pictured above. I had long forgotten about it, and honestly my wishes of working with it had long passed. So, it sits in a box for almost one year after I received it. I open it up and I receive one wire and the watch…. not two wires as pictured. This further discouraged me from using it until I redid the office area where I normally work on projects and set up a power station with every plug known to man linked to my computer network.

Once I set this up it became an easy task to charge, so I decided to take it out to a field we normally go Typhon racing at (which is not an R/C field) but more of a lake with a quarry in the middle of nowhere. To my surprise when I put the watch on, turned it on, and began scanning I came across video from a nearby team practicing some formation FPV flying. I watched them flying and switched bands to see different pilots FPV cameras for a solid 20 minutes. I ended up finding out who these pilots where by searching for local clubs around, and came across the airplanes I had seen on the video. I am not releasing the recording as I have not contacted the pilots and gotten their permission due to what seemed they where practicing a new routine. I also ended up learning that the field was a solid 2miles away from me in the middle of nowhere…. which is well beyond the capabilities it claims.

I recall driving home that afternoon and thinking about this watch I had purchased and ignored from a year ago. I was impressed and completely motivated to see what else this thing could do since I didn’t really need it any longer. I went only and searched for the part number and found an add-on for it… which just happened to fit my Taranis X9D+2019. I remember purchasing this item with such excitement as now I would be able to monitor my flights to at least 2 miles (based on previous experience) without having to put goggles on, specially if it is an area where we fly often as there typically is a routine or flight pattern we normally follow as those flights can get pretty monotonous.

Wearing FPV goggles can be great… but nothing becomes more exhausting than having to wear them through a routine type flight you have done repeatedly over long periods of time.

I have made the above statement before and always received a few more emails than usual about it, so at this point I am ready to explain. You are in a lonely place, far from help, with a grand or 2 in equipment out, alone….. do you really feel comfortable alone out there without being able to have view of your surroundings? I don’t. Often, I find myself having strange hours due to my boys so more often than not I go out alone for these activities. Being alone, blind, without a remote spotter in a secluded area, and none of your senses monitoring your immediate environment means I cannot dedicate my focus to only FPV, I simply needed a handy alternative.
