Why to choose rocketry and RC as a family activity

I am a father of 2 boys. One is 4 years old, and the other is 2 years old. I am the kind of parent that presents as many options to them as possible so they can follow their own paths regarding interests they wish to learn about.

My oldest has been obsessed with aircraft from the second that he left the hospital and heard/saw a plane. Given my interests in the topic I actually waited a bit to ensure that he insisted on it; which he of course did. First time he went to the regional section of the airport, he was floored. Since then, every day just about contains something about rockets and planes. This has led into a very in-depth explanation to him about the specifics and the why. The years of Why-arrhea!!!

Rocketry, and model RC both have excellent skill values to teach kids. Everything from hand eye coordination, to the physics of a launch which help figure out landing spot, to what gears do. Currently my son is learning about airfoils, and knows which type can produce more lift, can fly a drone accurately, as well as an RC car. Soon, i shall be able to teach him how to fly a powered glider….. but first he must learn the value of money!

If you expected a long article as to why rocketry, and remote control toys are a good idea you will be disapointed because the answer is simple, its a fun, educational, wholesome hobby to share with kids!
