Waterproofing electronics (the easy way)
Waterproofing electronics is something that have been coveted for as long as PCB’s have existed. One of the enemies of PCB’s has always been water. Water can easily breakdown the pressed silicon boards commonly used by cheap manufacturers. Also, in many situations the actual resistors and capacitors and so on, can conduct electricity when placed closed to each other in a moist environment. For these kinds of issues we use a spray on sealant, or epoxy to help isolate the electronics from sources of moisture/water.
Many sealants not designed for electronics can actually cause damage to the electronics boards while drying. Example, some resins will harden strong enough to snap off capacitors and resistors as well as anything else is can surround that is small. This is the main reason why we would only recomend using things that are designed for the use.
Below I will include some images of items commonly used for the purpose of sealing or waterproofing PCB’s and transmitters.
